75 Years of Philanthropy:
The Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. Basil the Great Greek Orthodox Church is a chartered member of the philanthropic arm of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The ladies of Philoptochos, in accord with their mission, are always there to assist St. Basil Church and its community, help disaster victims, support the national and metropolitan charities, fund and feed the hungry, aid the handicapped, and offer a “helping hand” to anyone who is in need of financial and emotional assistance.   Our small chapter has been able to carry out our society’s mission thanks to the hard work of our members, the generosity and support of our parishioners, and most importantly the legacy left to us by those who came before us.
Our Mission
The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, Inc., is the duly accredited women’s philanthropic society of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The mission of the Society shall be:
 
  • To aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the handicapped, the victims of disasters, to undertake the burial of impoverished persons and to offer assistance to anyone who may need the help of the Church through fund raising efforts; and
  • To promote the charitable, benevolent, and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, through instructional  programs, presentations, lectures, seminars and other educational resources;
  • To preserve and perpetuate Orthodox Christian concepts and the Orthodox Christian Family, and through them, to promote the Greek Orthodox Faith and traditions, in accordance with its doctrines, canons, discipline, divine worship, usages and customs;
  • To promote participation in the activities of the Greek Orthodox community, with the cooperation of the Parish Priest and the Parish Council.
 
The charitable work of the Society shall be performed with discretion, courtesy and kindness.

Membership Application
Full Member:
 
Women of the Greek Orthodox who are at least 18 years old can become full members of the society.
 
Associate Member:
 
An associate member enjoys all privileges of membership except the right to vote or hold office.  The following can join as associate members:
 
A Non-Greek Orthodox Woman Married to a Greek Orthodox Man
Greek Orthodox Men
A Non-Greek Orthodox man Married to a Greek Orthodox woman
